The Snugpak Ranger Windtop is designed to provide excellent protection against winds, as well as sunshine and light rain showers. The Ranger Windtop is much lighter than a normal jacket, using small YKK zips, packing down to the size of an apple. It is ideally worn with a long sleeve base layer, such as the Snugpak Skinz Coolmax base layer
to move away from the skin, keeping you dry and regulating core temperature. The Snugpak Ranger Windtop is a single layer garment and uses Paratex Micro. The single-layer wind tip is ideal for summer months, and is light enough to be unnoticeable and worn all day; becoming a stalwart item of clothing. The quick drying, Paratex Micro 100% nylon material has a Durable Water Repellent (DWR) finish. Water repellency can be maintained with a cool tumble after washing and periodic re-treatment with suitable after care products, such as Nikwax and Grangers.
The Ranger Windtop will keep you dry in a short, light shower, giving you time to find a safe place to stop and put on more effective (hardshell) waterproof layers, if required. The Ranger Windtop can also be worn over waterproof [PTFE] membrane hard shells in severe weather, allowing easy access to your essential equipment. In dry, cooler conditions, the cut of the Ranger Windtop allows you to effectively with the additional thinner insulation, or warmer fleece layers. In warmer months, it is light and cool enough to protect against UV rays, especially when static for long periods, etc.
The Ranger Windtop can also be layered with the Softie® SV3 Vest
Jackets for colder conditions or when core insulation needs to be maintained. The Ranger Windtop allows essential equipment to be handled, with easy access when wearing a day sack, and climbing and maintaining its core functionality with other operational equipment, such as armor and plate carriers / webbing.
